A school where families & learning come together
Noe Valley Nursery School is a child-centered, play-based, cooperative nursery school. Our goal is to provide a physically and emotionally safe environment that enables children to build a positive self-image, cultivate positive social relationships through play, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

NVNS welcomes new Director, Zac Oldenburg!
At the end of the ʻ24-25 school year, NVNS said goodbye to our beloved director, Johana Barahona, who moved out of state to be closer to family. We thank her for the endless love, patience, and guidance she gave to our students and families over the past 8 years, and we wish her all the best. Now we are excited to begin a new chapter at NVNS under the guidance of Zac Oldenburg. Zac comes from a family of educators and has spent the past 10 years working in special education and early childhood education. His teaching philosophy is “make good people,” which he practices by creating a safe and developmentally-appropriate space for children to explore, make mistakes, socialize, and have opportunities to learn and grow. Read our interview with Zac on the Our Teachers page.
